New IITA Team Member: Katie Herndon
Kathleen “Katie” Herndon, Ph.D., is an international nonprofit consultant with Association Management Professionals specializing in strategic planning and capacity building. Dr. Herndon has more than 10 years’ experience leading trade associations, nonprofits, and professional networks, including her previous positions as executive director of the Life Sciences Trainers and Educators Network (LTEN), the Marine Technology Society (MTS), the Virginia Land Title Association (VLTA) and the Maryland Land Title Association (MLTA). Under her leadership, these nonprofits grew membership, expanded organizational capacity, and launched world-class educational initiatives.
Dr. Herndon holds a PhD in research psychology, is a certified family mediator, has led numerous research studies in domestic violence prevention and instrument validation, and served as a consular officer with the U.S. Foreign Service in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She’s also the recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award, is an active Girl Scout, speaks four languages, and has authored several volumes of fiction and nonfiction books, along with textbooks & courses. Dr. Herndon, who also plays the piano and guitar, lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, Artur, and six children.
